Sarah Tucker's Hostess Gift Giving Guide

Now that my sisters three showers are all done, I thought I'd share some of the hostess gifts my sister, my mom, and I helped pull together. We tried to tie in aspects of the shower theme into the gifts. Gift giving is something we all really enjoy, so we had a ton of fun putting together each of these. Dixie Design adorned all of the gifts (c/o) - with personalized tags, cards, and stickers made from Gina Langfords Blue Toile Crest. They definitely prettied up the gifts and added that final touch! The first shower was a Champagne brunch

{corkcicle // champagne bucket // dark sea salt caramel truffles // kate spade coupes // belvoir cordial // sugarfina champagne bears }

The second shower was the bridal tea. Here's what we ended up giving the hostesses.

{pottery barn sophia tea pot // lindt chocolate // dixie design personalized tags // laduree tea // blue and white tea towels // harney and sons tea }

The last shower was this past Saturday and was a monograms and mimosas shower. I knew we had to buy these gifts from Emily McCaarthy's shop. Emily has long been my favorite - her style is THE BEST. and I happen to also be over on her blog featured in her Signature Style Series.

Danielle's Holiday Hound Gift Guide

We had so much fun working with Danielle Yancey on her Christmas card for our Tastemaker Collection. While Danielle has many interests and talents - model, yoga instructor, interior decorator - it's her passion for dogs that inspired her Dixie holiday card design. She has three adorable pooches, Willie, Sweet Pea and Trooper, and she also sits on the board of Hand and Paw, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve lives through Animal-Assisted Therapy.  Naturally, she wanted to design a card to reflect all the things her pups love most.

Danielle has put together a gift guide, perfect for your favorite holiday hound.

1 // Holiday Plush found at Home Goods   2 // Dog Rain Coat   3 // One Lucky Dog Treats   4 // Sequin Bow   5 // Santa Collar   6 // Chiffon Flower   7 //  Candy Cane Jammies   8 // Reindeer Bed   9 // LED Leash

HOLIDAY MEMORY: My favorite memory as a child was in 2nd grade. I woke up and ran into the front living room to see what Santa brought and there was a basset hound puppy running towards me. I was so happy I cried tears of joy. My mom said I had tears streaming down my face. Another memory is of me (when I was around 6 years old) and my older sister (who was around 12) putting on a holiday show with many skits for my parents and grandparents. The funniest of the skits is "The Twelve Days of Christmas" where we danced out the lyrics of the song. We have this on video and we try to watch it every Christmas to have many laughs!!

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS & HOLIDAY TRADITION: Growing up we always had a Christmas Eve dinner, got in the car and drove around and looked at Christmas lights around town, then went to Christmas Eve Candlelight service. I still love to do this each year.

GO TO HOSTESS GIFTS: OLI.O Organic Infused Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar Set, Marble Cutting Board with Cheese Spreaders, Bamboo Salad Claws or Yucatan Trading Company Scented Candle with Decorative Matches.

A HOLIDAY PARTY IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT: Guests, music and lots of laugher!

HOLIDAY COLORS: Gold, Silver, White, Brown and Green

FAVORITE HOLIDAY MUSIC: Carol of the Bells is my favorite song. It can be any version!

DECK THE HALLS: My mother cross-stitched by hand an entire tree skirt. I have it under my large tree every year. It means a lot to me and this will always be my most treasured Christmas decoration. I also decorate with a lot of organic, natural looks for Christmas and incorporate many metallic, mercury glass and faux fur elements.

ON MY CHRISTMAS LIST: I love yoga and also teach. I have had my eye on new yoga leggings and also a gold yoga mat! A new pair of heels and a fun clutch are also on my list.

I'M STUFFING THE STOCKINGS WITH: Growing up, my Dad always stuffed our hand-made stockings with large mixed unshelled almonds, walnuts, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pecans, tangerines, oranges, chocolates and small gifts. It was always a surprise to find the gifts or even money mixed in with all of the nuts & fruit. This year I am stuffing our dogs stockings with Christmas Dog Toys & Yummy Treats.

NO HOLIDAY TABLE IS COMPLETE WITHOUT: A little sparkle of metallic adds to holiday table decor. I love the festive look of gold, silver or even glitter or sequins on the table for the holidays. Also, you cannot go wrong with a display of candles to add warmth to a table, making it very cozy and inviting. (As for food, I have always enjoyed Deviled Eggs as part of a holiday meal, too!)

Stocking Stuffers for the Dixie Girl

You’ve got the big gifts picked out–those are easy. But year after year, the meaningful stocking-stuffer can be elusive. Just how many pretty chocolate bars, cozy socks, and cashmere scarves does one woman need? Stop thinking in or out of the box, and start thinking inside the envelope. Know a lovely lady who enjoys correspondence the classical way? We here at Dixie Design are biased, of course, but these are a few of the things we’d love to find in our stockings on Christmas morning.

● Just as a baker needs the best rolling pins, and a knitter the best needles, gift these rainbow-hued pens for a simple but practical gift.

● Making things more beautiful is a Southern gal’s instinct. Take correspondence to the next level with this beauty of a calligraphy kit.

● Once your gal’s got that calligraphy kit, take it to the next level: our Creative Director, Holly Hollon, offers calligraphy classes. You know and love her whimsical designs, gift your loved one the chance to get hands on with an expert.

● Though e-mails and texts may be the day-to-day means of communication, it’s important never to forget the rules of proper correspondence. Gift the Blue Book of Stationary to the refined lady on your list.

● Every Southerner has a special place in their heart for monograms–we can’t help it! Surprise someone this year with a chic Kate Spade pencil cup, monogrammed, of course.

● Naturally, the lady that enjoys sending letters enjoys getting them, too. Put an extra smile on her face when you slip this chic letter opener into her stocking.

● No desk is complete without a paper weight. Don’t settle for whatever boring knick knack you happen to find. We love this bright addition to a desktop.

● There’s sending letters, and then there’s sending letters. Help your gal do the former when you stuff her stocking with an array of vintage stamps.

● When it’s time to seal her cards or letters, add a beautiful, classic touch with a customized wax seal seal stamper.

Creative Ideas for Dixie Gift Tags

1 // Tie gift tags around silverware or on top of a plate to serve as a place card.

2 // If you’re giving the gift of a kitten or a puppy this holiday season, up the adorable factor by attaching one of our gift tags to your new furry friend.

3 // Have guests in town? Keep a stock of plain stockings on hand, but make everyone feel special when you attach a pretty, personalized tag to their loot.

4 // Going to a cookie swap or potluck? Make sure everyone knows who made that killer shortbread with one of our stylish labels.

5 // Every hostess likes a good bottle of wine, but with one of our personalized tags, no one will forget who brought the best!

6 // Hosting a buffet? Ditch the bland sticky labels for something more special, and tie on our pretty tags to identify what’s what.

7 // When wrapping gifts, attach sprigs of fresh, hearty herbs like rosemary with a gift tag for a fragrant, personalized touch.

8 // If you’re giving a book to the bookworm on your list, have your tag laminated so they can use it as a bookmark!

9 // While you’re laminating, preserve another one of this year’s tags as an ornament for your tree.

10 // Make a tabletop decoration using branches and an array of gift tags: ones from this year, ones from last year, ones you’ve received. Place branches (spray paint them white or silver!) in a vase or container, and attach gift tags as you would ornaments, as a reminder of happy times past and more to come.
